James Mcinnis may have been born in texas, but he has lived in Utah all his life.
Being raised by a single mother he learned hard work and dedication to a craft by watching her. She was a midwife and would have to go to work at all hours of the night. When she would get called in he would have to go with her, sleep at her work and she would drive him to school the next morning.
James always wanted to do martial arts, but it never seemed to happen. He looked into boxing, karate and Taekwondo, but to no avail, they were all either too far away or out of his mother’s budget.
Finally, when he turned 16, he came upon a grand opening sign for the Murray Trumotion Martial Arts School, it was close enough and he had earned enough money himself to pay for it.
So, James started training, paying with his hard earned money and riding a bicycle to the studio in rain, snow or shine. “If it was snowing, I would dress like an Eskimo and ride my bike to the studio”, James recalled with a laugh.
Less than 6 months after he signed up he joined the instructors academy. Less than 6 months after that, he was hired. It then took about a year of hard work and he became the Chief Instructor at the West Jordan studio.
It’s been several years since then and the studio has grown and even gained a few awards and trophies during tournaments.
“Finding trumotion martial arts and training under master Tyler Martin has been one of the best and most rewarding experiences of my life”-James mcinnis April 2020
