About Our Senseis at TruMotion West Jordan
Master Tyler Martin
He started his Martial Arts journey in 1987 at the local Fred Vallari’s Studios of Self Defense. While he was growing up, he enjoyed Wrestling Freestyle (since the age of 4), and for the junior high school. He loved his experience so much that in the 90s he started teaching as a volunteer at the old Magna rec center. Later you would find him teaching kids classes at the West Jordan and Taylorsville Karate schools. In 2001 he decided to make this his career. Master Martin held off getting his black belt locally and waited until he had the opportunity to travel to the Shoalin Temple and test for black in front of the 33rd Abbot. There he was tested by several Masters in the Martial arts and began lifelong friendships that only can be made under that type of experience. He currently trains with Masters all over the United States and continues to enhance and evolve TruMotion Martial Arts.
Grand Master David Lynton
He started his training in Boston as a teenager under the tutelage of Fred Bagley who is one of the highest-ranking east coast Masters in Kempo. He traveled to Utah to open one of the very first full time Martial Arts schools in the entire state on Provo Center street. Grand Master Lynton was the one who created what we know today as the animal tests. He also was the one who spearheaded the development of the Retreat that is held every year. Grand Master Lynton is continuing to train and elevate his own Martial Arts skill to continue to help others do the same. He is the highest ranking Kempo Master in the State along with the experience of training the highest-ranking Shaolin Kempo Masters around the country. He continues to enhance and evolve TruMotion Martial Arts.
Mr. Nikolas Terry
Mr. Terry or some might know as Sensei Nik has been training in the Martial Arts since the young age of 5. His first several years in training were located in the beautiful city of Las Vegas Nevada. Consequently, it was just a few short years before he started that Master David Lynton managed all the Kempo schools in Nevada. Sensei Nik brings with him a decade of teaching experience and a down to earth personality that the students love. He is working full time as we locate him a new TruMotion location in the south part of the valley where he will take over as Head Instructor there. He continues to bring great lessons to the students of TruMotion.
Mr. Martin Perez
Martin has been studying the Martial Arts since he was just 3 years old. His Mom used to work within sight of the old Taylorsville location where Master Martin started teaching at full time in 2001. His mom watched and watched and realized her son could really benefit from these lessons and then came and became part of the TruMotion Family. So many years latter Martin has decided to make this his life’s calling. The Trumotion Team is better for having him here. He is a wonderful Instructor and has excellent communication skills that both the students and parents of students appreciate.
Mr. Donavon Lucas
Donavon is our resident Peace Officer. After serving our community for over 25 years as a Highway Patrol Officer he decided to take a step back and find a different way to serve his community. With his advanced education in Martial Arts along with his physical talent, teaching was a no brainer. He has a vast experience in real time self-defense and has a heart of a teacher. We at TruMotion are very lucky to have someone with his life experience on our team. The students love learning from him and he is a joy to be around. He is loving his training as he does it with his teenage son. Both of which are Black Belts.
