I, Nancy Ayala, have been training for 18 years. I started training in the martial arts when I was 11 years old, having signed up November 2001. I fell in love with the martial arts one day one and never looked back. I trained for 3 years before I joined the Instructors Academy where I started learning how to teach the martial arts in an effective, fun and structured way under my instructor, Master Martin. I’ve had so many highlights and important events/moments since starting this journey. In 2008 I began teaching as a full time instructor. When I first signed up for martial arts I did not imagine that this was going to be my career and essentially what has been my vehicle to achieving many of my personal life goals. Martial arts is truly an art, one that changes lives and teaches you the discipline needed when it comes to achieving anything great in life! For example, earning your black belt is no easy task and it takes hard work, dedication and perseverance, which segues right into my next topic; I earned my first 1st degree black belt in 2006. This was an event in my life that I will never forget.
In 2009 I got the opportunity to travel and test in the Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng, China. Not a lot of people can say that they have tested in the Shaolin Temple with monks, but I sure can! I also walked up to the Bodhidharma cave; to be able to stand where the man who was part of the creation of Shaolin Kung Fu stood was an out of body experience. Looking back at everything that I’ve been able to experience and how the martial arts has guided me through this amazing journey and what it has taught me and continues to teach me now as an adult, I realize I am a really lucky person!. It is a way of life! To conclude I will keep striving to have my students be involved in this amazing community of martial arts enthusiasts so they can benefit greatly, just like I have, and make a positive impact in their lives.
